With up to 100 different species of shark known to frequent its waters, South Africa has in recent years become, “the” destination for the ever increasing demand for shark diving. 

SDXs “Sharks of South Africa” trips will offer you a diverse range of exhilarating encounters in many different locations. From Tiger sharks up close and uncaged to sharing the waters with a huge abundance of marine life during South Africa's annual “Sardine run!” 

South Africa is also home to one of the largest congregations of Great White sharks found anywhere on the planet and cage diving in this location has risen to the hight of tourism adventure here over the last 20 years - we will give you the chance to see this animal in its most famous home!

GREAT WHITE SHARK CAGE DIVING, BREACHING AND SPECIALTY COURSES

Our trips will range from day tours for both experienced and inexperienced divers, breaching White shark trips ands even multi day shark courses for real shark fanatics! Diving will take place at Dyer Island in an area known as “Shark alley" which acts as a huge draw for divers, nature enthusiasts, researchers, photographers and conservationists to witness one of the planets most legendary creatures in its most famous home!

TIGERS AND BULLS BAITED AND UNCAGED

For the true shark enthusiasts, thrill seekers and photographers this trip will be a must do! Baited diving, snorkeling and boat trips to see two of the worlds shark heavyweights on their own terms wild and uncaged! This trip will guarantee an adrenaline rush as you immerse yourself in the world of the Tiger and the Bull.

PROTEA BANKS DIVING

Undoubtably, one of the most exhilarating shark dives in the world, with an exceptional variety of species encountered often on the same dive. Protea banks reef has become synonymous with shark diving The reef sees up to 15 different species during its seasons including Bulls, Sand Tigers and Scalloped Hammerheads, this combined with an impressive underwater structure of caves and pinnacles sets the scene for a truly spectacular show. Not for the inexperienced or faint hearted!

THE SARDINE RUN

 

South Africa's “sardine run” will need no introduction to avid divers out there! Each year during June and July massive schools of sardines make their way up the eastern cape closely followed by an entourage of predating dolphins, whales, birds , sharks and more! We will be offering both day trips and multi day packages to see one of the most awesome wildlife spectacles on the face of the earth. Our trips will put you in the thick of the action!

Guadalupe 2011

After a hugely successful 2010, SDX was looking forward to the 2011 Great White shark season at Guadalupe Island with much anticipation. What we got was unquestionably the best season we have EVER had since diving began at the island over 10 years ago now! 6 trips, plenty of sharks (old and new), amazing guests and memories that will last with all of those lucky enough to board the MV Islander between Sep - Nov 2011. 

Here are some of our favorite shots from last year. They come nowhere near being able to successfully capture the beauty, majesty and wildness that is Guadalupe Island and its resident White sharks, but we will give it a shot!.....................
